The Office of Environmental Health and Safety at Mississippi State is hosting a number of training sessions on campus this spring, including an interactive, hands-on training course on general laboratory safety. Introduction to Laboratory Safety is a 3-hour seminar for laboratory users of all experience levels. The goal of the course is to provide an introduction to the basics of laboratory safety so that laboratory users can identify and reduce/eliminate the risk of exposure to chemical and physical hazards. Topics covered in the course include proper laboratory attire, personal protective equipment, work practice controls, chemical classifications and segregation, and MSDS/SDS. Classes will be held: -- Jan. 27, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Mitchell Memorial Library, Room 1405 -- Feb. 11, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Harned Hall, 3rd Floor Conference Room -- March 5, 1:30-4:30 p.m., IGBB Conference Room -- April 10, 1:30-4:30 p.m., 2231 Hand Laboratory Additionally, with the integration of the new EHS Assist software, Environmental Health and Safety is offering training for all current users of the chemical inventory management system. Classes will be held in Lab B of McArthur Hall on: -- Jan. 28 from 3-4p.m. -- Feb. 13 from 1-2 p.m. -- Feb. 26 from 11-Noon -- March 20 from 2-3 p.m. -- April 7 from 10-11 a.m. If you are interested in attending these or any EHS training, please follow the steps listed below to register. 1.
