²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵwill close Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at 2 p.m. due to winter weather. Severe winter weather conditions in Central and North Mississippi have made driving conditions extremely dangerous. The National Weather Service is predicting significant ice accumulations on the roads and surfaces.
Campus operations will be suspended at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, including all Monday night classes. The university will make an announcement at 8 p.m. tonight about the status of the institution for Tuesday, Feb. 24.
²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵPresident Mark E. Keenum said all ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵfaculty or staff members who need to leave their posts early to pick up children at schools or day care may do so.
Please do not attempt to drive in these conditions except in an emergency. Also, please do not travel to campus. Non-essential employees should not report to work Monday evening. Faculty, staff and students are urged to use caution to ensure personal safety. Monitor ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵsocial media and the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵwebsite for updates. Monitor local news outlets for changing conditions and advisories. Starkville campus residence halls remain open.
Perry Cafeteria will remain open Monday until 8 p.m. today [Feb. 23]. All other campus dining facilities will close at 2 p.m. today [Feb. 23]. Mitchell Memorial Library will close at 2 p.m. today [Feb. 23]. Sanderson Center will close at 2 p.m. today [Feb. 23].
Barnes & Noble Bookstore will close at 2 p.m. today [Feb. 23]. Students are urged to use caution as they move around campus. Sidewalks and outside stairs will be extremely slippery and most likely covered with ice in some areas.
