STARKVILLE, Miss.—The director of the Mississippi Public Employees’ Retirement System will speak Sept. 29 at Mississippi State.

Pat Robertson, a university alumna, is visiting campus as a guest of the Association of Retired Faculty. Open to all, her presentation will begin at 2 p.m. in the Parker/North Ballroom of the Hunter Henry Alumni Center.

“We anticipate a standing-room only audience,” said ARF vice president Roy H. Ruby, who is both university vice president emeritus of student affairs and dean emeritus of education.

An ݮƵaccounting graduate and certified public accountant, Robertson has led PERS since 2005.

A 25-year veteran of the system and its fifth executive director, she oversees all operational areas, including the nearly two dozen defined-benefit plans and an optional retirement plan for institutions of higher learning, along with the state-deferred compensation plan. She also serves as the liaison to retirees, employers, employees and members of the Mississippi Legislature and IHL board of trustees.

Established in 1952, PERS serves nearly all non-federal public employees in the state, providing regular-service retirement benefits to vested members at age 60 and members with 25 years of service credit at any age, as well as disability and survivor protections. Benefits are financed by contributions from employees and their employers, along with earnings on the contributions.

The Association of Retired Faculty has been a campus organization since in 1986. For more information, visit .
