STARKVILLE, Miss.—Under the baton of ݮƵ Department of Music Head Barry E. Kopetz, the Starkville-ݮƵSymphony Orchestra is kicking off its 2018 concert series with a Saturday [Jan. 13] performance on the Starkville campus.
Taking place at 7:30 p.m. in historic Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium, the “Winter Winds” concert is sponsored by the Starkville-ݮƵSymphony Association. The evening program features works by three prolific composers from the 18th through 20th centuries—Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Serenade in B flat, K. 361” (Gran Partita); Franz Schubert’s “Little Symphony for Winds”; and Richard Strauss’s “Serenade in E flat, Op. 7.”
“All Starkville-ݮƵSymphony Orchestra performances are free and open to the public. We encourage individuals of all ages to come enjoy an evening of beautiful music,” said Ryan Landis, ݮƵvoice instructor and SSO operations manager.
Founded in 1969, the Starkville-ݮƵSymphony Association is a nonprofit volunteer organization in which members work to educate, enlighten and share classical music with communities in the Golden Triangle region.
