STARKVILLE, Miss.—Fifteen Mississippi State graduate students are completing a program designed to help ready them for future faculty careers.

The Preparing Future Faculty certificate program includes benefits such as improved understanding of teaching and learning, including faculty roles and responsibilities; interaction with peers and faculty across disciplines; and improved preparation for faculty positions and the job market.

The initiative is coordinated by MSU’s Center for Teaching and Learning and is a cooperative effort between the CTL, the Graduate School and ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵLibraries. Facilitators include Michael Seymour, CTL acting director; Linda Morse, graduate program coordinator; and Amy Barefield, program coordinator.

Successful graduate student candidates must attend required classes and activities. Those meeting requirements and obtaining certificates for the 2018-2019 program include:

—Robert A. Barlow of Coaling, Alabama, a master’s student in applied anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences.

—Cecilia Brooks of Starkville, a human development and family sciences doctoral student in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

—Harry Cridge of the United Kingdom, a resident in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

—Ashley C. Dafoe of Thornton, Colorado, a master’s student in applied anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences.

—Sayantani Dutta of India, a computer science doctoral student in the Bagley College of Engineering.

—Courtney P. Heaton of Starkville, a doctoral student in agricultural science/animal and dairy science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

—Dara Jaiyeola of Nigeria, a master’s student in computer science in the Bagley College of Engineering.

—Tamara Mahadin of Jordan, an English lecturer in the College of Arts and Sciences.

—Michael P. Nattrass of Starkville, a doctoral student in plant and soil sciences/agronomy in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

—Delma I. Nieves-Rivera of Puerto Rico, a doctoral student in computer science in the Bagley College of Engineering.

—Bradley M. Richardson of Starkville, a doctoral student in forest resources/wildlife, fisheries and aquaculture in the College of Forest Resources.

—Turner Sanderson of Smithville, a food science, nutrition and health promotion master’s student in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
