STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State Online is celebrating student successes, as well as the achievements and growth of its online education programs during National Distance Learning Week today through Nov. 8.

“National Distance Learning Week is an opportunity to celebrate our online students, our Mississippi State faculty who teach these courses and programs, and our Center for Distance Education staff who provide support for both,” said Susan Seal, executive director of MSU’s Center for Distance Education.

To that end, Mississippi State Online is hosting a week of social media events, including ݮƵpremium giveaways, and sharing and posting student video testimonials and inspirational quotes from online academic advisors.

“When I am able to help a student work toward earning a degree and fulfill a personal goal, I know that I am contributing to making someone’s life better,” said Chris Pilgrim, ݮƵOnline Bachelor of Business Administration assistant director of online learning. “Advising is more than just helping a student enroll in classes—it’s building a relationship.”

Mississippi State Online student enrollment has grown an average of 5% over the past three years with the offering of 42 accredited bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as professional certificates, from six of the university’s eight academic colleges.

“We have been focused on collaborating with academic departments to provide even more online degree options and enhancing our support services to meet the unique needs of our online students,” Seal said. “Mississippi State is a national leader in online education and continues to explore innovative ways of enriching the experience for our students, faculty and staff.”

Students and alumni are invited to join the conversation by posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #MSStateOnlineNDLW.
