STARKVILLE, Miss.—With a grant from the Governor’s Emergency Education Response Fund, ݮƵ Libraries is offering free online trainings and resources to support educators and students participating in remote learning due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Stephen Cunetto, ݮƵLibraries associate dean, said a component of the GEER grant enables ݮƵLibraries to provide public trainings on how to use free online resources such as those available through the MAGNOLIA project.
An acronym for Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities through Library Information Access, MAGNOLIA is funded by the state legislature and provides online research databases for publicly funded K-12 schools and public, community college, and university libraries in Mississippi.
MAGNOLIA provides students and researchers in the state with access to reliable, academic peer-reviewed journals and curated age-appropriate content not available through public searches.
“In addition to educators supporting students, anyone who wants to use free online resources to support their professional development needs may participate in these trainings,” Cunetto said.
Each 1 p.m. training consists of 45 minutes of instruction from ݮƵfaculty librarians and 15 minutes of Q&A.
