STARKVILLE, Miss.—Professionals from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg will spend a day at Mississippi State next Thursday [April 14] visiting with students and employees to discuss research collaborations, internships, employment and how the longstanding partnership between ݮƵand ERDC benefits Mississippi and beyond.

In addition to ERDC guests speaking in a number of ݮƵclassrooms on “ERDC Day,” a public affairs panel at 2-3 p.m. will discuss the “Impact of the ERDC-ݮƵPartnership in Mississippi and Beyond.” The event at Bost Theater is free and open to all.

Panelists include ݮƵProvost and Executive Vice President David Shaw; ݮƵVice President for Research and Economic Development Julie Jordan; ݮƵBagley College of Engineering Dean Jason Keith; ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory Director Bart Durst; ERDC Senior Scientific Technical Manager of Materials and Structures Robert Moser; and ERDC Information Technology Laboratory Director David Horner. Time is allotted for panelists to answer questions from the audience.

ݮƵstudents and employees also are invited to an informal, come-and-go networking reception with complimentary refreshments with ERDC employees Thursday, 9 a.m.-noon on the first floor of the Rula Engineering and Science Complex.

“ERDC Day is a wonderful opportunity for hundreds of ݮƵstudents to be taught about some of the ways ERDC and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers utilize a diverse range of skills to accomplish their mission and how an education from ݮƵprepares students to impact the world of tomorrow. ERDC Day also provides a showcase of the value this longstanding partnership between the two organizations makes in Mississippi and beyond,” said Isaac L. Howard, professor and endowed chair in MSU’s Rula School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
