²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵITS deploying third-party patching tool for Macs

Mississippi State Information Technology Services procured a third-party patching deployment solution—KACE—that will patch software, including Firefox, Chrome, Adobe Reader and so forth, on Mac computers. You will likely see KACE notifications as your applications are patched during the rollout of this product to campus.

The KACE deployment on ITS-supported Mac computers will be implemented on Wednesday [Nov. 16]. KACE was deployed on ITS supported Windows computers in April.

Users may delay patching as needed, but patching is required.

A software patch or update is released by a vendor to address security vulnerabilities and other bugs. The goal of patch management is to mitigate the risk to the integrity of end-user computers and to the network as a whole. ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵITS strives to provide a secure, functional and reliable campus network environment.
