VOiCE brings renowned vocalist to MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Department of Music is hosting a guest recital as part of its annual Vocal Odyssey in Creativity and Education event Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. at the Lecture-Recital Hall in the new Music Building at 124 Hardy Road. The concert is free and open to the public.

Baritone Corey McKern, an alumnus of MSU’s Department of Music, will perform both English and German songs at the recital. He will be accompanied by ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵfaculty member Anna Katherine Ragsdale on piano. An active concert performer, McKern has appeared with prestigious opera companies such as Detroit, Pensacola, and Nashville operas and Opera Birmingham.

A two-day event Feb. 17-18, VOiCE also will hold educational sessions focused on working with young singers for ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵvoice students. McKern will teach a master class as part of these sessions.

VOiCE, made possible by the James W. Criss Trust, invites guest artists from around the country to perform and present a variety of topics in vocal music and education.
