The ݮƵStudent Experience portal is Slate’s winner for Best External Portal, recognized among four other category finalists that included Auburn, George Fox, Mount Saint Mary’s and Westminster universities. Slate by Technolutions is a comprehensive admissions and relationship management system tailored to meet the digital needs of more than 1,900 higher education institutions worldwide.

John Dickerson, ݮƵassociate vice president for enrollment, said of the joint achievement between the Office of Admissions and Scholarships and Information Technology Services, “Our Student Recruitment and Marketing team and ITS did a great job on this project. It’s a one-stop destination for admitted students to manage their application journey and explore campus life.”

MSU’s Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing Naron Remillard said, “I am very proud to see our team members recognized for their hard work and collaboration in making this portal a reality. The final product exceeded our expectations, helping students not only navigate next steps, but creating a great experience. I’m also grateful our peer institutions acknowledged this success by voting for us for this award.”

Highlights of MSU’s award-winning portal include a splash screen celebrating admission, customizable tabs for accessing everything from acceptance letters and orientation signup to financial aid assistance and scholarship notification. The admissions Instagram account is integrated with the system, which also adapts to reflect the campus experience based on the applicant’s chosen campus.

Much of the portal’s design and development was led by Admissions and Scholarships’ Spencer Ashley, associate director of data management, and Lindsey Stallings, assistant director of recruitment and events, and ITS’s Alex Sims, enterprise systems analyst. Higher education consulting firm RHB also enhanced several of the portal’s organizational capabilities.
