STARKVILLE, Miss.—The Writing Center—a campus resource dedicated to helping writers of all levels—has relocated to the second floor of Mississippi State’s Mitchell Memorial Library.
The center, facilitated through the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, held its ribbon cutting in Room 2335 Monday [Aug. 26] with ݮƵPresident Mark E. Keenum, English department and ݮƵLibraries personnel in attendance.
“We want to provide all of our students with the resources they need to succeed, and the Writing Center and University Libraries are two of our greatest resources when it comes to supporting student success,” Keenum said. “Having the Writing Center here in this central location on the Drill Field enhances access and will help connect more students with everything else Mitchell Memorial Library has to offer.”
Writing Center Director Loreeda Rios said the academic service offers one-on-one session appointments for 30 or 60 minutes, either online or in-person, at multiple locations and times.
“While our new location will enhance students’ on-campus experience, our newly redesigned space will allow us more room to support ݮƵwriters in a one-on-one setting,” she said. “We are thrilled to be in the Michell Memorial Library and to join the list of services being offered here.”
The Writing Center helps students, faculty and staff improve their writing skills while providing a range of services for academic, professional or personal projects with individualized sessions. Appointments can be made using the online scheduling system at .
“The University Libraries is delighted to partner with the ݮƵWriting Center to better meet the needs of students by creating an inclusive, accessible and integrated central location for academic support in service of student success,” said Dean of Libraries Lis Pankl. “At Mitchell Memorial Library, in the heart of the ݮƵacademic community, we are fostering an environment of community and growth by inviting partners to collaborate with us.”
