Fun in the Lab
Miguel Munoz and Vicky Montiel-Palma, faculty members in MSU's Department of Chemistry, demonstrate a chemical reaction between dry ice, heat and magnesium. The professors hosted the K-12 students through the for Ciencia en Vivo. The summer lab experience included guided experiments with dry ice and liquid nitrogen where the students learned to make ice cream similar to Dippin' Dots. They also used the art of chromatography to create their own slime.
