Perspective on a lunar eclipse
Assistant Professor of Computational Biology Jean-Francois Gout, also a renowned astrophotographer, had a composite of his images featured by NASA’s popular APOD or “Picture of the Day” website after the almost total lunar eclipse in November . The picture series was taken over a period of about 1.5 hours and is aligned to trace part of the circular arc cross-section, with the central image at maximum eclipse. Apart from being an astrophotography enthusiast, Gout is a co-principal investigator for an international team working to understand and predict coronavirus genetic mutations, which can aid in the development of potential treatments and vaccines for COVID-19.
